Self-gated cardiac magnetic resonance perfusion imaging compared with X-ray angiography: a pilot study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) stress perfusion is an effective noninvasive diagnostic clinical tool when combined with late gadolinium enhancement imaging (LGE) for evaluation of ischemia, infarct, and cardiac prognosis. Good ECG-gating is essential to the commonly used perfusion sequences, but ECG-gating is problematic in obese patients, high field magnetic fields, and patients with arrhythmias. We describe a rapid radial-based self-gated (SG) perfusion acquisition for detection of perfusion defects and compare this to LGE and X-ray coronary angiography (XCA) in the detection of infarction or ischemia.

The impact of myocardial flow reserve on the detection of coronary artery disease by perfusion imaging methods: an NHLBI WISE study.
Myocardial flow reserve (MFR) is not routinely assessed in myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) studies but has been hypothesized to affect test accuracy when assessing disease severity by coronary vessel lumenography. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an emerging diagnostic technique that can both perform MPI and assess MFR. We studied women (n = 184) enrolled in the Women's Ischemia Syndrome ...
متن کاملThe Essence of STRATEGY Is Choosing What Not to Do.
Clinicians must evaluate on a daily basis patients with symptoms of possible coronary artery disease (CAD). Decades of progress in various technologies used for cardiovascular imaging have produced a wide array of choices, and consequently selecting the best test for a given patient has become increasingly complex. Anatomic techniques to evaluate for CAD include invasive coronary angiography (I...
متن کاملThe challenge to detect heart transplant rejection and transplant vasculopathy non-invasively - a pilot study
BACKGROUND Cardiac allograft rejection and vasculopathy are the main factors limiting long-term survival after heart transplantation. In this pilot study we investigated whether non-invasive methods are beneficial to detect cardiac allograft rejection (Grade 03 R) and cardiac allograft vasculopathy. Thus we compared multi-slice computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging with invasive met...
متن کاملCombined anatomical and functional diagnostic work-up of patients with suspected coronary artery disease using cardiac computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging
Introduction The combined use of cardiac computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA) and myocardial perfusion imaging allows the non-invasive evaluation of coronary morphology and function. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) has several advantages: it can simultaneous assess myocardial perfusion, ventricular and valvular function, cardiomyopathy and aortic disease and does not ...
متن کاملWill 3D at 3-T make myocardial stress perfusion magnetic resonance imaging even more competitive?
Currently, two-dimensional (2D) adenosine stress myocardial perfusion cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses 3 to 4 cardiac slices to cover the left ventricular myocardium. Although the performance of 2D adenosine stress myocardial perfusion MRI has been shown to be equal or even better compared with single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) because of its superior image resolut...
